Victory Gardens is committed to developing and producing plays that speak to the various communities in Chicago. We make this possible by working and nurturing diverse voices in many ways. In our week-long “Playwriting for People of Color,” ten playwrights will have the opportunity to workshop their plays-in-progress in a supportive environment facilitated by poet, playwright, actor, educator, and executive director of the #LetUsBreathe Collective, Kristiana Rae Colón. Participating playwrights will discuss their craft and acquire tools for character development, generating scenes, and tackling rewrites. Participating playwrights will also gain invaluable insight about developing and producing new work in Chicago with special guests Jonathan L. Green and Hutch Pimentel.
