“Darren’s 28th theater season commences with “Black Monologues 3.0”- a project in association with Black Owned Chicago. He performed in two staged productions in 2019: as Ray Haskins in “ONE 4 THE ROAD” for MPAACT (nominated for the 2019 Black Excellence Awards by the African American Arts Alliance of Chicago) and as The Earl of Gloucester in “KING LEAR” for Redtwist Theater Company, where he appeared in AN AMERICAN CLOCK in 2005. His stage credits include NEVER THE MILK AND HONEY, WARM ON THE COOLIN’ BOARD and QUARK for MPAACT; CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, THE HEAVENS ARE HUNG IN BLACK, THE WHALESHIP ESSEX AND MILL FIRE for Shattered Globe Theatre Company, where he is an Artistic Associate; MEGASTASIS (Eclipse Theatre Company); RUTHERFORD’S TRAVELS (Pegasus Theatre Company); WHAT I LEARNED IN PARIS (Congo Square Theatre); REPAIRING A NATION, IF SCROOGE WAS A BROTHER, TALKING BONES (eta Creative Arts Foundation); KATRINA: MOTHER-IN-LAW OF THE ALL! (Interrobang Theatre Company); FABULATION: OR THE RE-EDUCATION OF UNDINE (Pulse Theatre Company); THE ALTON SCHOOL CASES OF 1867 (DePaul Theater School), among others. Film credits include SPOKES, CHI-RAQ, HOOD, NO CHASER, ROAD TO FREEDOM, LOVE IN THE TIME OF IRONY, MO’ MONEY. Television credits include CHICAGO PD (NBC), CHICAGO FIRE (NBC). Darren has done commercials and internet ads for STATE FARM INSURANCE, NORTHWESTERN MEDICINE, RIVERS CASINO, BROOKFIELD ZOO, AFFINITY HEALTHCARE, METLIFE AND HUMANA along with training and industrial films for CAREERBUILDER, ACCENTURE, NORTHWESTERN MEDICAL, WALGREEN’S AND SEARS AUTO CENTER and stars as Principal Davidson in upcoming OpportuniTi Productions internet series. “Blackboard Jungle.”

Darren is committed to reading and therefore volunteers as a reading tutor in the Chicago Public Schools through the AARP Experience Corps literacy program and performs in many staged readings and play-reading workshops across Chicago.
