Summary

Stuart Flack, surely Chicago’s only playwright/partner at an international management consulting firm, describes his new comedy Jonathan Wild as “a three-guys-in-a-bar play,” or more precisely, a “whatever-happened-to-that-lunatic-in-high-school?’ play.”

In this much-anticipated follow-up to his 1997 Victory Gardens mainstage hit Sidney Bechet Killed a Man, Flack’s lunatic in Jonathan Wild turns out to be an enigmatic eco-terrorist on the lam, who is reunited with his two high school best friends in a Chicago bar. There, he deftly draws them into his web of danger, intrigue, comedy and wild philosophical debate. Jonathan Wild will be directed by Victory Gardens Associate Artistic Director Sandy Shinner, and co-star Joe Dempsey as Dave, Phil Ridarelli as Larry, and Kelly Van Kirk as Jonathan “Dexter” Wild.
