An Ocean Away – A Benefit Reading

Join us at Victory Gardens Theater for a benefit reading of An Ocean Away by Belarusian playwright and screenwriter Andrei Kureichik, whose work has been produced internationally across both stage and screen.

Summary: A staged reading exploring intertwined immigrant and refugee stories, revealing Ukrainian identity, war’s trauma, and hope an ocean away.

Featuring an outstanding ensemble cast: Angelina Davila, Marilyn Dodds Frank, Kris Downing, Arina Ermakova, Michael Milligan, Iliana Raykovski, Yasen Peyankov, Kaz Qutab, Lusia Strus, and Eddie Torres.

Directed by Daniil Krimer.

Tickets are $10. General admission.

All proceeds will be split between the Protez Foundation and the The Selfreliance Association.

The Protez Foundation is a U.S.–based nonprofit providing free prosthetics, personalized training, and emotional support to Ukrainian children, civilians, and soldiers who have lost limbs due to the war, helping them rebuild mobility, independence, and overall quality of life. The Selfreliance Association has supported over 40,000 Ukrainian immigrants who arrived in the United States following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, providing free immigration, integration, language, and educational support, with a special focus on women, children, and elderly individuals who arrived without financial resources, English proficiency, or means of livelihood.
