The Humanities is a provocative play by Zayd Ayers Dohrn in which faculty and students at an elite American university grapple with issues of gender, race, sex, and violence when a controversial speaker comes to town. Cultural battles are fought, identities are made and unmade, and people accustomed to the life of the mind are forced to confront their most primal instincts.

Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, Nora Dunn has regretfully stepped away from the Victory Gardens production of The Humanities.

Seating & Arrival

• Seating is general admission and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Please arrive early with your full party to help ensure seating together.
• The theater is accessible to patrons with disabilities.
• If you require any accommodations, please include them in your reservation notes or notify the box office upon arrival.

Parking & Transportation

• Metered street parking is available on Lincoln, Halsted, and Fullerton.
• Patrons are encouraged to use rideshare services or public transportation.

Audience Advisory

The Humanities explores complex and challenging subject matter and contains strong language, sexual content, and partial nudity. Recommended for adult audiences.

Photography & Recording Policy

To protect the privacy of our artists and the integrity of the performance, photography and video recording are strictly prohibited. Due to sequences of nudity in this production, all mobile devices must have their camera lenses covered while inside the theater. Phone camera cover stickers will be provided before the performance and must be applied to all mobile devices prior to entering the auditorium.

Ticket Policy 

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. If you need to exchange your ticket for a different performance date, please contact the box office at boxoffice@victorygardens.org. Exchanges are subject to availability.
