Artistic Director Search Update

October 30, 2020

Dear VG Community,

It has been a busy fall at Victory Gardens, as we search for our next Artistic Director (AD). We are delighted to share that we will be partnering with Arts Consulting Group (ACG) to lead the search, with Wyona Lynch-McWhite as team lead. As the Executive Search practice leader, Wyona has guided numerous search processes throughout the United States and Canada, placing executive leaders for a wide range of nonprofit arts organizations, universities, and government agencies. Joining her on the team are Jenna Deja, Douglas R. Clayton, and Maria Muñoz-Blanco.

ACG has composed a culturally diverse team to run this search, and their unique methodology minimizes hiring biases. They have guided artistic director searches at East West Players, Long Wharf Theatre, Silkroad, and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals, among others. Their personalized, thorough approach will involve the many stakeholders invested in VG’s success. This includes reaching out to candidates recommended through the AD Search Form shared earlier this year, as well as engaging in discussions with staff, artists, partners, and the wider VG community about the skills, experiences, and characteristics candidates need to excel in the role and lead Victory Gardens in fulfilling its mission.

As of today, the public search is officially underway, and those interested in applying can view the position listing at artsconsulting.com/employment. Recommendations and applications should be submitted to ACG for consideration at VictoryGardens@ArtsConsulting.com. Candidates will begin by interviewing with ACG this fall, and finalists will meet with the AD Search Committee later this year. The finalists will then be introduced at a public event. We will share the details for that event once scheduled. We hope to announce our new Artistic Director in early 2021.

More updates will be shared as the search progresses. Until then, stay well!
