Douglas Post is the author of some twenty-five plays and musicals, which have been produced in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Canada, England, Wales, Germany, Austria, Russia and China. Victory Gardens productions include the Midwest premiere of Earth and Sky, the American premiere of Murder in Green Meadows, and the world premieres of Drowning Sorrows, Blissfield, God and Country and Cynical Weathers. He has also been commissioned to write screenplays for Warner Bros. and NBC, teleplays for WMAQ-TV, and several radio adaptations of his scripts. Post has received the L. Arnold Weissberger Playwriting Award, the Midwestern Playwrights Festival Award, the Cunningham Commission Award and three Playwriting Fellowship Awards from the Illinois Arts Council, and has been nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award and an Emmy Award. He currently serves as the Chicago Regional Representative for the Dramatists Guild of America.
Recently, his recent productions include Detective Sketches in Hawaii, Drowning Sorrows in Georgia, Earth and Sky in California and South Carolina, Murder in Green Meadows in Colorado, Michigan and New York, and The Wind in the Willows in Florida, Maine and Ohio. He taught high school students this past summer as part of the Arts Education series Sound Off at Victory Gardens. He remains the Chicago Regional Representative for the Dramatists Guild of America.
